तिसरया शतकात, रोमच्या राजाने (Roman Emperor Claudius II) सैनिकांना लग्न करायला बंदी केली. कारण त्याचं सैन्य त्यामुळे शक्तिशाली राहील अस त्याला वाटायचं. "व्हेलेण्टाईन" नावाचा ख्रिश्चन धर्मोपदेशक त्या सैनिकांची गुपचुप लग्न लावायचा. राजाने त्याला जेलमधे टाकलं. धर्मांतर केलंस तर जिवंत राहशील नाहितर तुला मारलं जाईल, अस त्याला सांगितल गेलं. पण त्याने धर्मांतर करायला नकार दिला.
अस मानतात की व्हेलेण्टाईनने जेलरच्या आंधळ्या मुलीला बरं केलं आणि मरायच्या आधी त्याने तिला पत्र लिहिलं आणि पत्राच्या शेवटी, "तुझा व्हेलेण्टाईन" ("From your Valentine") अशी सही केली. इतिहासात कुठेच असा पुरावा नाही की त्यांच खरं प्रेम होतं.
त्याला १४ फेब्रुवारी २६९ इ.स. ला मारण्यात आलं. धर्माकरता त्याने स्वत:चा जीव दिला. इ.स. ४९६ ला मुख्य ख्रिश्चन धर्मगुरु जेलासिअस (Pope Gelasius) ने, व्हेलेण्टाईनच्या आठवणीत हा दिवस साजरा करायचं ठरवलं. आज हाच दिवस प्रेमाचा दिवस म्हणुन साजरा होतो!
भारतीयांचा ह्याच्याशी काडीचाही संबंध दिसत नाही. पण आता ह्या दिवसाला प्रेमाचा दिवस म्हणुन वलय निर्माण झालंय अथवा केलं गेलंय आणि प्रेमाशी तर सगळ्यांचाच संबंध येतो!
जर साजरा करायचा असेल तर, हा दिवस का व कशासाठी साजरा करायचा ते आधी समजुन घ्या. खरच काही प्रेमाचा इतिहास आहे का? का उगाच दुसरा करतोय म्हणुन आपण पण तेच करायचं? काय करायचं ते तुमचं तुम्हीच ठरवा. पण आपल्या वागण्याचा, आपल्या कुटुंबावर, मित्रांवर, संस्कृतीवर आणि देशावरही परिणाम होत असतो हे लक्षात ठेवा. आणि ह्या सगळ्यांसाठी आपलीही काही जवाबदारी, काही कर्तव्य आहे याची जाणीव ठेवा.
व्हेलेण्टाईन डे आपण जर साजरा करतो तर ज्यांचा आपल्या देशाशी संबंध आहे, आपल्यासाठी ज्यांनी स्वत:च्या प्राणांच बलिदान दिलं, ज्यांचा आपल्या असण्याशीच संबंध आहे, ज्यांच्यामुळे आज आपण सुखाने, ताठ मानेने जगु शकतोय, त्यांचे दिवसही आपण न विसरता साजरे करतो का? असे दिवस तरी माहीत आहेत का? त्या दिवसांच महत्व हे व्हेलेण्टाईन डे पेक्षाही कितीतरी पटीने जास्त आहे. असे दिवस प्रत्येकाने न विसरता साजरे करावेत.

५. ११ मार्च, धर्मवीर छत्रपती संभाजी महाराज पुण्यतिथी (तारखेप्रमाणे)
६. २८ मे, स्वातंत्र्यवीर सावरकर जयंती
७. १४ एप्रिल, भारतरत्न डॉ. बाबासाहेब आंबेडकर जयंती
८. २६ जुलै, कारगिल विजय दिन
९. २३ मार्च, शहिद भगतसिंग, सुखदेव, राजगुरु हुतात्मा दिन
(ह्या दिवसांच महत्व जर माहीत नसेल तर जनाची नाही तर कमीत कमी मनाची लाज ठेवुन ते स्वत:च शोधावे आणि आपल्यासारख्या बाकीच्यांनाही ते सांगावे.)

Is everything is NATION and nothing called HUMAN?
ReplyDeleteI am not against your thoughts and not even in support of valentine. In fact I am against this. But "not having any connection to INDIA" is not the reason one shall launch. If someone is doing something good then are we going to avoid that just becuause he is not INDIAN or he doesnt connect to india. On one hand in history, even many of our national heroes has tried to tell us that "Dont distinguish between HUMAN, RACES, STATES and even NATION. Then why are you making differences that "VALENTINE IS NOT FOR INDIA"?
All the references which gave as days "15 AUG, 14 APRIL, 26 JAN, 26 JULY" are just towards INDIA as nation and nothing towards huminity.
Please dont misguide people.

ReplyDeleteHow easily you said that "is everything nation and nothing called HUMAN"...before saying this did you ever asked a question to yourself that how many of stated days such as 19th feb, 6 june, 28 may you did remember first of all? did you knew what each day stands for? or have you ever remembered those great people? whatever things that comes in your favour you want to celebrate like 14th feb...and start to give such stupid reasons about HUMINITY and all...our national heros have said much more...do you follow that? or just follow 14th feb...

ReplyDeleteLet me make clear..As I am Indian, I have given example of India. I do not have any intention to tell other country people to celebrate india's independence day or similar days and to hurt their feelings. If these days are not your days then you can find out your own days and should celebrate that.
Eg. (Its just example) If you are Pakistani, then you can celebrate your independence day on 14th August or whatever. If you are Pakistani and you are celebrating India's independence day then you should ask yourself that - why you celebrating India's independence day if you are Pakistani?
About humanity and nationality, I agree with you that humanity is most important. But what if some people killing other people because they are from specific country...So I don't think its anything wrong if they get grouped as nation.
Our national heroes also told us to love our country and if required to give our life for our country. (this does not mean hate others). You can celebrate your own national heroes and We will our own. As I am Indian, I am not going to celebrate Pakistan’s national heroes or Americas national heroes. Also I am not apposing American’s to celebrate their national heroes.
I do not see any evidence that Valentine done anything great for all world and all religion, that 14th feb should be world wide celebration day (and also love day) or its any kind of humanity day. Also he might be able to live longer if he got converted. So if Hindus are celebrating this then they should know the people who died, given their lives for their own religion and should celebrate their days first.
Humanity related days are like, worldwide AIDS day...that of course outside of any boundary.

ज्यांना स्वत:ची काळजी नाही ते देशाची काळजी कुठली करणार ?
अशा या फालतु डेंनी आपली तरुण पिढी बर्बाद केली आहे. कधितरी STUDY DAY साजरा करा.
